A career is built over time and it’s never too late to benefit from the advice of others. \nShort biography of Suzanne Wise \nSuzanne Wise – Senior Vice President\, Corporate Development\, JT International – is a British national\, appointed to the JTI Executive Committee as Senior Vice President Corporate Development in June 2017. \nIn her current position as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development\, Suzanne’s responsibilities include Corporate Communications\, Fiscal Affairs & Anti-Illicit Trade\, Corporate Sustainability\, and Public Affairs. \nIn 1989 Suzanne Wise joined Gallaher Group Plc\, and then went on to become Group Head of Legal in 2001. \nAfter leaving Gallaher in 2007\, Suzanne held the position of General Counsel & Company Secretary at Premier Foods Plc. She later extended her responsibilities to include Communications\, Internal Audit and CSR. Suzanne was a member of the group’s Executive Board\, sitting on the CSR Steering Committee and chairing the Risk Review Group and Policy Steering Group. \nIn 2012\, she joined Network Rail Plc as Group General Counsel and Company Secretary. As an Executive Committee member\, Suzanne was also responsible for Legal Services\, Transparency & Business Ethics\, Freedom of Information\, Business Change and Information Governance. \n

Her objectives:  help women prepare and gain access to Board memberships. \nThe CWF is very proud to organize a workshop under Elin’s leadership with the participation of 3 panelists working in international marketing\, government and finance: Alexandra Post Quillet\, Michaela Troyanov and Muriel Widmer (WOB workshop-Panelists). \nAs Elin Hurvenes says: “A non-executive board position is about skills and experiences but it is also a vote of confidence. It’s about status\, power and networks”. \n\nInterested to learn from the experience of prominent and seasoned Board members? Come ask them your questions in this panel discussion moderated by Elin.\n\n\nAre you ready to work on your Board Mission Statement? Come be coached by Elin and the panel members. You will have a chance to prepare\, in small groups\, your own Board Mission statement.\n\nElin Hurvenes Bio \nFollowing Norway’s controversial proposal in 2002 forcing companies to increase the number of women on corporate boards from 6% to 40% Norwegian chairmen and investors were despondent claiming “We don’t know where to find qualified women”. \nThe response of Elin Hurvenes was to set up the Professional Boards Forum. In a series of pioneering events she brought together leading chairmen and investors and women ready and capable of taking on roles as non-executive directors. The events gave the chairmen and investors an instant insight into the skills and capabilities these women could bring to a board. \nHer success has been so important that she now organizes special events in a number of northern European cities including Zurich\, where she invites Board presidents to come and meet non-executive Director candidates and discuss challenges in a “Simulated Board Meeting”. \nJoin us to work on your Board mission statement and become one step closer to being ready for board interviews.
