CWF Launches 50+ Initiative
Much attention has been given – both in the press and across business sectors – to the economic and social challenges presented by an aging workforce. The Career Women’s Forum seeks to address this timely issue in more positive terms by directing its new initiative “50+ Autrement” to opportunities this phenomenon presents. An introductory questionnaire, sent out in 2008 to determine CWF members’ experiences and attitudes, met with excellent response and produced no fewer than 300 constructive comments. These formed the basis for Phase One, aimed primarily at CWF members.
Plans call for workshops on “Legacy Circles”, a means of transmitting personal knowledge and wisdom as a key to long-term business and personal success, “Financial Planning” and “Packaging Your Talents”. Consciousness-raising speakers and networking luncheons focus on such issues as achieving a healthy professional/personal balance and supplanting negative attitudes toward aging through sharing the positive experiences of role models.
